Mail forwarded to Internet by rule may fail in Outlook
Sometimes when you create an Inbox rule in Microsoft Outlook 2000, to forward mail to an Internet account, you notice that the rule is not appearing to work or has stopped working. This issue occurs only when you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option.
With this option you get the privilege to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. If you are not sure about you installation type for finding solution then follow these steps to determine your installation type:

On the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook.

In About Microsoft Outlook you will see “Corporate” if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.
Reason of the issue:
This issue can occur when the ability to forward mail to an Internet account is disabled on the Microsoft Exchange Server. The other reason can be Microsoft Exchange Server is upgraded to version 5.5.
Solution
For solving this issue, you will need to contact your Exchange server administrator to enable the ability to forward mail to an Internet account.
There are times when email communication on your Outlook can get stopped due to Outlook PST file corruption. In such situations, you will need to take help of a PST recovery tool that may repair the corrupt PST file and recover emails and other items from it.
